Bomb Jack

Bomb Jack is a 1984 platform video game developed and published by Tehkan.

The main character in the game is the titular Bomb Jack. A single long button press will make Jack perform a high jump and rapid button presses thereafter will make him float. His objective is to gather all 24 red bombs displayed on the screen. The game's enemies include birds and mummies, which, upon dropping to the bottom of the screen, can transform into foes like flying saucers and orbs that drift around the screen, causing Jack to lose a life if he makes contact with them. Upon collecting a bomb, the fuse on the bomb next to it will light. Collecting the bombs in sequence of the ones alight will increase the bonus meter. When the meter is full, a circular bouncing 'P' appears, collecting it will turn all the enemies into bonus coins for a limited time during which Jack can collect them. There are also other bonuses which include the B (Bonus), which amplifies the score multiplier (up to 5x), the E (Extra), extra life, and the rare S (Special), which provided a free game. The game consists of five distinct levels, each with a unique background and arrangement of platforms (the fifth screen contains no platforms at all).

Bomb Jack became an instant classic that still plays as well today as the day it was released. Our version is in a converted cabaret cabinet.
